The Global Recycling Foundation is a private foundation, formed by the Bureau of International Recycling. The Foundation aims to promote the vital role of recycling and the recycling industry in the preservation of the planet.

How is Global Recycling Day a part of the Global Recycling Foundation?
Global Recycling Day is the Foundation’s largest annual initiative and aims to promote the vitality of recycling across the globe and recyclables as the Seventh Resource. The Foundation supports the mission of Global Recycling Day and will be actively involved in the inaugural celebrations.
What is the role of the Global Recycling Foundation; its mission and goals?
At the Global Recycling Foundation we promote recycling, the recycling industry, and the vital role of recycling in preserving the future of the planet. Through educational and awareness programs and innovative initiatives, we focus on the sustainable and inclusive development of recycling.
Our nine primary goals are as follows:
1) To support and celebrate the inaugural Global Recycling Day on March 18th.
2) Promote the importance of prioritising the Seventh Resource.
3) Foster the promotion of recycling across the world, support and share best practices and innovation.
4) Protect biodiversity.
5) Commit to and promote eco-responsibility and the circular economy.
6) Encourage responsible, sustainable and inclusive environment actions to benefit ecological developments.
7) Support statistical, economic, and social studies in the field of recycling.
8) Support research and innovation in the field of recycling.
9) Support educational programmes, university and scientific research in the field of recycling.

How is it financed?
The Foundation is financed through funds provided by donors, partners, and sponsors. The Foundation will work closely with our supporters to maximise awareness and entrench recycling into the daily lives of people across the globe.

How is the Foundation progressing in having Global Recycling Day officially recognised by the UN?
Currently, the Foundation has gained recognition of Global Recycling Day from UNIDO, and our petition to have GRD recognised as an official day in the UN calendar has in excess 11500 signatures.

Other than Global Recycling Day, does the Foundation support any other initiatives?
It will do. The Foundation aims to fund university and scientific research into innovative recycling solutions, and to fund promotional and educational campaigns to highlight the role of recycling in creating a sustainable future.
